So moving on~ It's been a while.
I just finished going to TWO conventions in the past month - Anime Expo in LA and MetroCon in Tampa. My first out of state convention was quite a success!
ANIME EXPO
I went with my friend
and her friend Brooke, and
's mom and sister. And I spent around 300$ at the convention alone, since my mom gave me 400$ overall but
's mom paid for our food.
AX LINE UP:
Thursday - Fem!Alibaba (Magi)
EVENTS: Not really anything special! We went into the dealers room and stayed there most of the day, buying stuff. I got my picture taken twice since we weren't all out and about.
Friday - HDW Tsuna (KHR)
EVENTS: Slightly more eventful! A lot of people seemed to remember Tsuna and liked my gloves, I got a decent amount of pictures taken. Again we went into the Dealers room, but more towards the Artist Alley.
Saturday - Touko Fukawa (Dangan Ronpa)
EVENTS: I was mostly trying to fix
's 3DMG, since the flight on the way up kind of destroyed them. ; ; I did go off on my own to the Dealer's room to get a few more things, mostly in the Artist Alley. I actually got a picture of my not-so-good Fukawa costume, I have to redo her entire outfit. > <
Sunday - Loli!Tsuna
EVENTS: COPiC markers! I spent about 150$ at the COPiC booth, and it was well worth it! I even got a few pictures taken of my costume, even though I really wasn't anything!
TOTAL SPOTPASS COUNT: Over 600 people!
ATTENDANCE: Over 60,000 people, a new record for AX!
OVERALL - it was the best convention I've been to. We went to a few panels (mainly K Project's dub release panel and a panel for future manga releases) and spent a lot of time in the dealers room, time well spent! The dealers room is HUGE and took over two days to explore, not even completely! I got a print from the Avas Demon booth among others, mostly Dangan Ronpa prints and posters, as well as the Dangan Ronpa artbook! A very successful trip, I'm hoping to go back next year!
Now for the second convention, METROCON.
METRO LINE-UP:
Friday: HDW Tsuna (KHR)
EVENTS: I had repainted my gloves since they were horrid looking for AX and I LOVE the results! They came out so nice looking, and I got quite a lot of pictures taken! We explored the artist alley and dealers room too.
Saturday: Alibaba (Magi)
EVENTS: I was with
as Hakuryuu, and we got stopped quite a lot! We went to the Magi panel as well, and she became part of it since she was the only Hakuryuu at the convention! (they actually thought we were their Alibaba and Haku for the panel earlier in the day) We didn't stay for the rave, we were so tired, but we hung out with a Judal ad Morgiana that were from the panel before we left!
Sunday: Loli!Tsuna
EVENTS: Not very eventful. Brooke didn't go, so it was just me and
. We pretty much wandered around for a while in the dealers room to find an alpaca plush (they were all sold out!) and I bought a few Dangan Ronpa stickers. After the con we got Eddie and Sam's pizza too!
OVERALL - I do admit this wasn't the best convention, nor the best Metrocon. Although Saturday was pretty good, both me and
bought weekend passes for 60$ (the same price I paid for my AX 4-day pass) and the only thing we could use it for was the Dealers room (which felt tiny and had nothing we were looking for) and the main events (we only went to closing ceremony) Panel rooms, usually monitored and required a pass, weren't monitored. So we basically wasted 120$ between the two of us, since we only bought the passes for panels mostly. I also didn't know any of the voice actors besides Dante, but I didn't want his autograph. The artist alley wasn't promising either. Altogether we had a pretty decent time, but it wasn't as great as I remember Metro being.
TOTAL STREETPASS COUNT: Around 200 people!
ATTENDANCE: 9,915 people!
FUTURE CONVENTIONS AND COSTUMES
Well, I pretty much told my mom I want to go to AX again next year, since it'll be my graduation gift and my 18th birthday. I'm hoping to attend one day of Shadocon this year for some voice actors and an alpaca plush, and to see my friends in a show. The list looks like this:
Shadocon 2013 - One day
AX 2014 - 4-day
No Metrocon? No Metrocon, most likely. Metro put a good date in this year but next year they planned the convention to be July 11-13th. Unfortunately AX is always on the 4th to the 7th, and my family is planning to have this be a vacation, so we might get back either right before or right after it. And to be honest, I don't think it'll be better than this year, since I didn't really like this year. HOPEFULLY since Metro is going 4 days in 2015 I'll go but I'll be in college, so I might not have funds. So these two conventions are the only really "most likely / yes" conventions in the near future.
COSTUMES
I'm sticking mostly to what I already have - Loli!Tsuna, HDW Tsuna, Alibaba, and I plan to redo Fukawa's costume and wig. NEW costumes will be these - SnK!Tsuna, SnK!Naegi, SnK!Alibaba(MAYBE), and Naegi. I don't plan on cosplaying from SnK itself really, but the concept of Tsuna and Naegi in SnK gear is something I want to pursue. Naegi will be done by Shado, and SnK!Tsuna and SnK!Naegi will be for AX most likely. Still unsure about SnK!Alibaba but I'd like to do his as well. This way I'm not ~technically~ making a bunch of costumes, just the same costume with a different jacket with symbols and wig. I plan on making the 3DMG as well, but Tsuna's and Alibaba's will be different swords from Naegi's.
I WILL get pictures of myself somehow, it's hard since I'm the only person who knows a decent amount of photography knowledge.

OTHER NEWS
I've been really winding down on DA. No one seems to want commissions from me, so I don't feel the need to really do a lot here. I mostly do things on my other account. But I've tried to get myself out there and it seems to fail every time.
I have thought that if I do Metro 2013, I would get an artist alley booth with a friend and try commissions and doing stickers or something. Since I don't have a tablet still I could only do traditional things, unless I get a pen and suddenly become a good digital artist to do prints. But then again I'd have to do prints of stuff I don't know about - Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural, and MLP to be specific. Because what I like isn't as popular and wouldn't sell.
My parents want me to get a booth so i can make money, but if I don't know anything about the popular shows it won't be worth it. I know I could do it easy because there are some booths at Metro that have really...bad art. But they make some money. The thing is they get all the fandom jokes and sell prints with them on it, so even if it's not as good as someone else's it'll sell because the fandom is popular.
-sigh- I just want to make back the money I spend on all my art supplies. Since I can't get a job (no license or car to go to work) and my mom is the only person who gives me money for things, I'd like to start making money on my own. No one seems to like my art enough to commission me, even though my prices are really low.. (guys, $1 for a sketch, 2$ for flats and 3$ for full color and shaded?! I've seen shitty artists make so much money on commissions of a higher price. Is it because I'm a traditional artist?)
Well, whatever, I should focus on more important things, like finishing my original species and references for my OC's.
BSC out!
